The tournament results ...
A new feature of this year's Championship is a mini-Ryder Cup-style competition in which 4 two-man teams from Canada and the US compete in 3 formats using hickory golf clubs. The first 9 holes is an alternate shot format, the second 9 holes is played best ball, and the final 9 holes in a two-man scramble format. The weather was very cooperative with light winds and 30C temperatures (88F) and the players really enjoyed the competition. All matches were very close with the Canadian team finally prevailing 8 points to 4. Highlights included birdies halving several matches on the 600 yard par 5 14th hole and Paul Biocini paired with John Henry going 4 under through 7 holes in the scramble format. All in all a great day for golf! Photos of the Ryder cup teams are below.
Friday features the 36-hole Canadian Open Championship coupled with the annual Legends tournament to be followed by a barbecue and awards ceremony.
